Palm Sunday in Highland Park

Palm Sunday | April 14, 2019 | 10:00 A.M.

On Palm Sunday we celebrate the triumphal entry of Christ into Jerusalem. Like all of Holy Week, the liturgy for Palm Sunday is dramatized—we parade around the neighborhood as we recall the story, shouting “hosanna” and waving palm branches. After the “procession of the palms,” we enter the church for the “liturgy of the Passion.” We remember that the same Lord we crowned king on Palm Sunday is the same Lord that we crucified as a criminal on Good Friday.

Palm Sunday is one of the most powerful and memorable liturgies of the entire church year. You don’t want to miss it. Plan to arrive early to make sure you don’t miss the procession.

Palm Sunday is especially suited for children. Kids love to join the procession and wave palm branches. If you have small children, you might consider bringing a little red wagon and for babies either a stroller or some sort of carrier.
